20 mA CURRENT LOOP OPTION BOARD
The 20 mA Current Loop Option Board provides a link between our ALPHA family of meters and computers, or other third party communication systems, achieving point-to-point communication up to 19.2 kbps

A1700 INPUT/OUTPUT MODULES
The A1700 meter supports a range of plug-in modules that fit under the meter main terminal cover. The modules can be inserted into the meter without removing power or affecting the meter certification. The addition of an input module gives the A1700 multi-utility metering capability. Alternatively an output module can be installed to increase the number of relays from four to eight.

A1700 METER COMMUNICATIONS MODULES
The A1700 meter supports a range of plug-in modules that fit under the main cover. The modules can be inserted into the meter without removing power or affecting the meter certification.

An RS232 module enables direct connection to any RS232 communication device. To reduce communications costs, up to 10 meters can be multi-dropped over a distance of 12 metres.

EXTENDED MEMORY OPTION BOARD
The Extended Memory Option Board extends the basic load profile storage of the A1600 (AIN) ALPHA® meter from 32 kB to 128 kB.

EXTERNAL SERIAL COMMUNICATIONS BOARD
The External Serial Communications Option Board provides a serial communication interface for ALPHA®, ALPHA Plus® and A3 ALPHA® meters.

GSM MODEM TYPE PAXVCA
The PAXVCA modem is for use with the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) network and has been developed specifically for use with the A1700 meter. The mobile service can be provided by the Service Provider of your choice.

INTERNAL CELLULAR MODEM OPTION BOARD
The internal cellular modem (ICM) is a new addition to the Elster Electricity portfolio of communication option boards for the A3 ALPHA® meter (with A3 firmware 2.0 higher). This communication solution is based on analog cellular technology that provides network coverage where digital technology is impractical or unavailable. With the under-the-cover ICM, the A3 ALPHA meter communicates using the vast RF coverage of wireless public networks.

INTERNAL LAN CONTROLLER OPTION BOARD
The Internal LAN Controller (ILC1) option board is an interface that connects an A3 ALPHA® meter/collector to a network of REX® meters. The primary task of the ILC1 option board is to maintain a 900 MHz radio frequency  (RF) local area network (LAN) for REX meters. This enables an A3 ALPHA meter/collector to act as a data collector and interface that provides two-way communications between Elster Electricity’s EnergyAxis® Metering Automation Server (MAS) and a network of self-registering and repeating REX meters. 

INTERNAL MODEM OPTION BOARD
The Internal Modem Option Board, when installed in ALPHA or ALPHA Plus meters, allows meters to be read and programmed remotely along with providing off-hook detection and intrusion detection.

INTERNAL TELEPHONE MODEM (ITM3)
The Internal Telephone Modem (ITM3) with outage report capabilities is a modem communications option board. When an A3 ALPHA® meter is equipped with an ITM3 option board and an internal LAN controller (ILC1) option board, it enables the A3 ALPHA meter to act as a meter/collector within Elster Electricity’s EnergyAxis® System. 

ITRON 50ESS ERT
Itron® and Elster Electricity converged technologies to create an AMR solution that fills a gap in today’s electricity metering marketplace. The Itron 50ESS ERT® is an innovative under-the-cover automated meter reading (AMR) solution now available with Elster Electricity’s A3 ALPHA® meter. This integrated technology enables Itron handheld, mobile, and network AMR systems to gather billing data from demand and simple time-of-use metered accounts.

RS-232 OPTION BOARD
With installation of the RS-232 Option Board, any of our ALPHA® family of meters can use the RS-232 communication standard to have point-to-point communication between the meter and a variety of communication devices.

RS-485 OPTION BOARD
With installation of the RS-485 Option Board, any of Elster Electricity's ALPHA family of meters can use the RS-485 communication standard with multiple meters.

WAN OPTION BOARD
The WAN (Wide Area Network) Option Board is an FCC Part 68 Class A device that provides a communication connection to the ALPHA STARS® wireless radio frequency transponders and ALPHA Plus® meters.
